We developed a children’s karate curriculum backed by many years of research in child education programming.

There are also separate classes for 4 – 5 year olds and 6 – 7 year olds. Our goal is to ensure your child is appropriately challenged and engaged.

Using progressive teaching methods that combine life-skills and martial arts, and over a decade of experience, our program help children become better versions of themselves.

The excitement – the yelling, the games, the punching and kicking, the vocabulary of instruction – immerses them in a fun-filled experience with a perfect balance of fun and learning.

We recently hosted our 6-year-old’s birthday party here. While typical options for kindergarten to early elementary kids are indoor playgrounds or magic shows in party rooms, this was our first time trying a karate-themed birthday party—and it turned out to be an amazing choice.

From the planning and booking stage, the staff were always very responsive and patiently answered all of our detailed questions.

On the day of the party, we had a mix of slight nervousness and high expectations, but the experience far exceeded them. The staff were energetic, fun, and did an excellent job keeping all the children fully engaged and well organized from start to finish.

Within just 10 minutes, my son was completely soaked in sweat from all the excitement, which made everyone laugh. Meanwhile, the adults were able to relax and enjoy coffee while watching everything unfold.

Our whole family was extremely happy with the experience, and all of the guests also said it was “the best party ever” and “we want to do it again!”

We would highly recommend Evoke’s karate birthday party to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet. It truly exceeded all expectations. Thank you so much for such a memorable day!

We have been members at an Evoke for years now and it has been one of the best decisions our family has ever made. The amount of care and thought that is put into every program makes it clear that this dojo is a labour of love. It is rare to find a program that is well thought out, authentic, challenging and rewarding, and Evoke's Lil' Dragons program is just that. The children aren't just learning martial arts, they are learning life skills. Each lesson is imbued with the pillars of discipline and respect that are essential not only to a successful martial arts practice, but also to living life with integrity even when they get off the mat. The instructors are experts at bringing out the best in the kids, while emphasizing accountability and rewarding progress. Both of our kids joined Evoke Little Dragons at age 5, and it has been an incredible experience for our family. Through martial arts, they’ve learned discipline, focus, and commitment, but even more importantly, kindness, respect, and resilience. Each class begins with a character trait of the week, which sets the tone and helps kids practice these values in a fun, meaningful way. The instructors are skilled, patient, and engaging, making every lesson enjoyable and educational. Been about 15 years now of both Fitness Kickboxing and Muay Thai. Some of the little Dragons from way back are adults now, and kicking my butt:) (sometimes...lol). It's a respectful and good vibe atmosphere. I recommend this club no matter how old you are, or what level you are. I plan on retiring my gloves when I'm 80 or when they tell me I no longer know my right from my left anymore. Whatever comes first. See you on the mat.

As one of our signature programs, the Lil’ Dragon classes was designed around a powerful life-skills foundation and age-appropriate learning.

We foster a nurturing environment that uses movement from martial arts disciplines like karate, taekwondo, jiujitsu, hapkido, and kickboxing – to help enhance motor skills and athletic performance in children.

Our children’s karate class curriculum is designed to target their unique developmental needs are each stage of growth using research on child education and programming.

The classes are also taught by a caring team of charismatic instructors and coaches with years of experience, and who love working with children.

Karate Program FAQ:

My child is a beginner. When’s the appropriate time to register or enrol.

You can join anytime.

Our children’s karate classes run year round and organized in such away that new kids can enrol at any time.

Each lesson is well structured, beginner friendly, and progressively challenging for new students to join in.

Will this teach my child to be aggressive

Absolutely not!

In fact, it’s quite the opposite at our school. Our teachings are age-appropriate with an emphasis on life skills and positive character building.

We use martial arts movement to enhance motor skills, while emphasizing values such as patience, self-control, respect, and self-discipline.

Is this an activity for boys, or can my daughter attend too

Martial arts is great for all kids and at Evoke we have as many girls as we have boys, and they all love it.

None of our programs are gender dominated, so your daughter will not feel intimidated.

In fact we have more girls in our advanced classes and lots of female instructors on our team that many of the kids look up to.

My child is not very athletic. Is this a program they can participate in

Whether or not your child is athletic, they’ll feel right at home in our classes.

Our awesome team of experienced instructors will work hand in hand with your kids to insure they have a fun, exciting, and enriching experience.

Martial arts helps children develop great motor skills and an excellent complement to other sports.

I have an older child. Can they attend the same program

Lessons are organize by age to make sure your children are appropriately challenged.

Lil’ Dragons are separated into 4 & 5 year olds, and 6 & 7 year olds. Older siblings will be in our kids program (ages 8 to 12).

However classes, and programs, typically run back-to-back. On some days we even have children’s karate classes simultaneously on an adjacent training floor to make attendance convenient for families with siblings.

Is this safe? I do not want my child to get hurt

Absolutely.

From having a 6-to-1 student-instructor ratio for efficient supervision, to our padded workout floors, and top of the equipment, safety is always a priority.

Every aspect of our Lil’ Dragons program is designed to ensure your child is safe and having fun.

Do kids get to fight each other or compete

There is no sparring or competitions for this age group.

We minimize physical contact and instead use karate and taekwondo movement and technique to develop excellent motor skills.

Evoke’s children’s karate curriculum also equips kids with tools to deal with aggression and bullying without using their fists 🙂

Will they stick to it or get bored soon

Children tend to take well to classes at Evoke martial arts.

There is always something new learn, and we keep classes fresh so they never bored.

After trying a complementary class, to be sure, we encourage families to start with our 3-Week trial offer. It is a great way to have your child “test-drive” more classes to make sure we are a good fit for them.
